SINUS ELEVATION
A maxillary sinus elevation (in layman’s
terms we could call it the “augmentation
of the bone in the upper arcade” is necessary
in some cases where the consistency of the bone
does not permit the insertion of an implant.

Over time, some patients lose bone after several
years without teeth, or in the posterior part
of the jawbone the maxillary sinuses may be very
big and there may be insufficient bone in which
to insert implants.

In these cases we proceed with the filling of
the maxillary sinuses with grafted bone and then
insert implants so that they may subsequently
support the teeth. With a small incision we open
up the gum and detach it until we reach the maxillary
sinus which is opened up and filled with bone.
In so doing we have sufficient bone in which to
insert the implants (impossible to do without
a sinus elevation in a patient with this pathology).

After a time, during which the bone forms, the
patient’s molars can be supported.
